Name: Woman Man Woman Deep Purple Shawl

Item#: 15337

This shawl is an interpretation of a healing cloth made in a woman-man-woman type style, with the man center section the same pattern as the woman ends. The handwoven textile, made from village raised, hand reeled, naturally dyed silk, is filled on the two ends with curled tailed naga (mythological river serpents) plus little birds, silk worm pattern, and flowers. Dyes include both fresh and fermented indigo, sappan wood a combination of the bark of the Kor Ben tree and dirt from the burned rice fields to make black. The fringes are made of silk worm cocoons and silk tassels. A picture of the artist modeling her textile is included with purchase.

Size: 16" x 95"

Origins: Houaphanh Province, Laos
