Name: Ta Oi Sabaidee Couple
This is a hand-carved, wooden statue couple - he, with his hands in a sabaidee (literally "good health") greeting position, and she, with a "woven" backpack on her back.. Traditionally they are placed on the steps leading into a home to greet visitors and to bring luck to the household. These are carved by the Ta Oi people of southern Lao and are used in their homes and ritual houses.
