Name: Saang Hong Stripes
Item#: 9044
Made of hand-reeled, naturally dyed, hand woven silk, this shawl, woven using discontinuous supplementary weft technique (colors are hand picked into the textile, row by row), is beautifully executed. The motifs are of Saang Hong (mythological elephant birds) with a tree of life on their backs, birds, which may be regular birds or Hong (mythological birds who's belly is the rainbow), separated by rainbow stripes bringing the power of the Hong to the textile between the Saang Hong rows and the single rows of flowers. This piece is edged by white patterning on the sides, framing the textile beautifully. Comes with a photo of the woman (our dear friend Sukkhavit) who's daughter wove the piece, modeling the piece.
