Name: Richly Colored Naga Shaman Cloth
Item#: 18101
Pregnant two-headed naga (mythological river serpents) with both diamond and triangle heads fill this shaman cloth with color and movement. Between the naga are diamonds of flowers and naga with khon buhan (ancestor spirits) in every other diamond. The textile is handwoven from village raised, hand reeled, naturally dyed silk. The dyes are indigo (green and blue), kor ben or duobanga grandiflora (gold, or when dyed with dirt for 4 days and 3 nights, a true black), haem - "climbing turmeric" (bright yellow), and lac (red). The rich bright colors make for a striking and lively textile to hang on the wall or wear. Comes with a photo of the natural dyer and designer, Souk, modeling the textile.
