Name: Orange Curled-Tailed Naga
Item#: 15301
PENDING SALE: This wide woman's shoulder cloth is handwoven from village-raised, hand-reeled, naturally dyed silk. The motifs include a diamond of naga (spiritual river serpents) and curled tailed naga. The textile is woven similarly to a man/woman healing cloth in that the predominantly blue end is the man side and the multicolored end is the woman's side, divided by a solid ground section. Usually the man and woman's sides are the same length, using the same number of pattern repeats, but this one has three repeats on the woman's side and five repeats on the man's. As such, it makes a striking wall hanging and works well as a scarf when worn over one shoulder. This woman's shoulder cloth can be used as a scarf, wall hanging, or table runner. The textile comes with a photo of Nang Tiip, the weaver, wearing her textile.
