Name: Man Woman Healing Cloth in Deep Red and Blue

Item#: 14130

This is a man-woman healing cloth - a cloth so named as the center section is plain weave (all one color), and the ends, while woven with the same pattern, have different colors to represent each gender - the blue side is male, and the multicolored side is female. The patterns included in this piece are predominantly naga (mythological river serpents). The naga in the borders is a two headed draught naga, baby naga with scales, or pregnant naga, depending on the intent of the artist. The body is filled with different forms of nags, from diamond to triangle headed, and from pregnant (different colors making up the body), or not (solid color body). There are also stylized butterflies in the borders and tiny ancestor spirits between the naga. You can see the ancestor spirit on the man side in the center diamond - the figures in the exact center are ancestor figures with their fingers pointed up. The center diamond also represents a lantern to light the way to the ancestor world. A picture of the artist modeling her textile is included with purchase.
