Item#: 15277

Sometimes a dresser or side table needs some color. Sometimes it is a spot on the wall above that dresser that nothing else fits. Enter this beautifully woven textile featuring curled tailed naga (mythological river serpents) in orange on blue in the center with borders of naga boats representing the boats people make during a fall buddhist festival in which boats are made out of leaves and a candle is sent in the middle and sent down the river symbolically sending wishes to the ancestors. When woven into a cloth used by a shaman, the shaman can "hitch" a ride on the naga boat to the ancestor world to bring an ancestor spirit back to help with the ceremony. Made of village raised, hand reeled, naturally dyed silk on a hand-built loom, this textile comes with a photo of the weaver holding her piece.
