Name: Gold on Blue 2-Headed Naga
Item#: 18002
This fantastically complex patterning of two-headed naga (mythological river serpents) intertwined with each other and surrounding diamonds of more naga and flowers is primarily in a gold color on a deep blue. The textile is made of village raised, hand reeled, naturally dyed silk. The colors in this piece are dark blue, light blue, and light green all made from indigo, gold from the bark from the Kor Ben tree (Duobanga Grandiflora), yellow from haem (the wood of a climbing vine referred to as climbing turmeric), and red from lac. The complexity of the pattern and color interplay makes it look like the figures are almost three dimensional and moving. So fun to look at! Comes with a photo of the natural dyer and designer, Lun, modeling the piece.
