Name: Deep Blue 2-Headed Naga Diamonds
Item#: 14132
With bright pastels on a dark blue, this traditional Lao/Tai woman's shoulder cloth can be used as a scarf, wall hanging, or table runner. The textile is handwoven from village-raised, hand-reeled, naturally dyed silk. The motifs include a diamond of naga (spiritual river serpents) of importance to both the Lao and Tai cultures from which this textile patterning arose. The two-headed naga surround the center diamonds which are bordered by lines and diamonds which also represent the naga, a female spirit as the naga lives in the river which irrigates the rice fields and rice is equated with life sustenance. This textile comes with a photo of the weaver modeling this piece.
