Name: Birds on Black Door Curtain
Traditionally, in Laos, houses did not have internal doors. Instead, door curtains would be used in place of a door, and motifs, both mythological and natural, would be woven into the door curtain to provide spiritual protection to those using the room. The curtain would be pushed to the side as people entered and exited the door. This door curtain is handwoven and filled with bird, large and small, and flower motifs. The ground is a cotton blend for strength, and the pattern is made predominantly with silk.
