This textile is filled with the powerful mythological figures of naga (mythological river serpents), two-headed saang hong (mythological elephant bird) pregnant with rainbows (representing the mythological hong bird whose belly is the rainbow), as well as birds, butterflies, trees of life, and ancestor spirits. This textile, hand-woven from a design by Tai Daeng husband, Bounkeo, of naturally dyed, hand reeled silk by Lao Loum wife Lun, is a fabulous combination of mythology and technique. Comes with a photo of Lun and Bounkeo with their textile.
