Name: Red Hmong Blanket
Hmong blankets are made by combining two handmade Hmong skirts. This blanket is made from two Red Hmong skirts. Each skirts is made from village raised, handspun, handwoven, wax resist batik, indigo dyed cotton, that is then appliquéd with cotton and ribbons. Other parts of the skirt were hand-embroidered with traditional Hmong designs and appliquéd. Sewn together, these make a stunning, graphic blanket that gives the owner the joy of having beautiful work on display that was once the pride and joy of the woman who made the skirts for her own or her daughters' use. Enjoyed as a throw or used on a bed, the brightness and beauty will enhance any room.
