Name: Naga Shaman Cloth
Item#: 8108
This textile is filled with naga (mythological river serpents). The Naga are depicted by both serpent-looking motifs, as well as by alternating black and white diamonds in a row. The use of color is quite extraordinary in this textile; the calm, muted earthy tones of white, yellow, soft orange, deep red, and taupe on black are popped by the brilliant turquoise color offsetting the primarily white naga. The silk is raised in the village where the worms are fed mulberry leaves, and the silk is hand-reeled, not spun. All of the natural dyes and the design were made by Lun - a photo of her displaying the textile is included with purchase. This textile is handwoven on a hand-built loom.
