Name: Key Pattern in Burgundy and Black
Item#: 17018
The key pattern in this textile burgundy and black textile is deceptively simple due to the consistent coloration, and is lovely worn as a scarf or hung on the wall. Most people call this the Chinese Key pattern, but a friend retorted to me once that this is the Key to the World of Weaving pattern! The key pattern is bordered with a delicate pattern of intertwined mythological river spirits with flowers between that represent mating naga or fertility. This textile is handwoven from village-raised, hand-reeled, naturally dyed silk. The textiles is bordered by silkworm cocoons cut and inverted to resemble flowers. A photo of the weaver wearing the textile accompanies the piece.
