Name: Deep Navy with Naga Diamonds

Item#: 12204

A subtle, deep-navy, indigo colored shawl, this textile pops with the brightly dyed border, highlighting the pattern. The motifs include diamonds of flowers and naga (mythological river serpents). The navy weft is from a fermented indigo vat on a black warp (made from the dye from the bark of the huge jungle tree, kor ben, overdyed with water run through the dirt of the burned rice fields). A photo of the young woman weaver modeling her shawl comes with the textile.

Size: 17 in. x 79 in.

Origins: Houaphanh Province, Laos

Price: $175.00
