This is a village raised, hand reeled, naturally dyed, handwoven silk textile from NE Laos. The textile is filled with figures of curled tailed naga (mythological river serpents), hong birds (mythological birds whose bellies are the rainbow), and geometrically represented silk worms. The border is composed of the gourd seed pattern, from which the Tai people believe the people came into being, hooks, and flowers. Can be used as a small hanging, runner, or altar cloth.
