Name: Stripe and Dot Pattern Shawl
This is one of natural-dyer Souk's modern pieces, with horizontal stripes of dots crossing the vertical warp color patterned stripes in dark blue, red, green, and tobacco. The modern, almost plaid appearance of the body of the textile is juxtaposed with the very traditional two-headed naga (mythological river serpent) pattern in the border, along with the flower and water pattern stripes. Comes with a photo of Souk displaying the textile. Note: there is a small three inch section where the white weft dots have been abraded on the back side of the textile that are virtually unnoticeable from the front.
Size: 27 in. x 63 in.
Origins: Houaphan Province, Laos
