This cloth with both natural and mythological animals, people, and other creatures is handwoven from village raised, hand reeled, naturally dyed silk. The motifs show aspects of village life, including an elephant pulling a cut tree, a horse pulling a wagon, women spinning, weaving, and reeling silk, butterflies, monkeys in trees, people pounding rice, crabs, civets, and mythological elephant birds, ancestor spirits, and giant spirits, among others. The dyes used include indigo, maak lin mai, lac, annato, and others. The textile comes with a photo of the weaver holding her piece.
