Name: Silk Shaman Cloth or Ceremonial Blanket
A spectacularly rich and varied cloth, this textile shows the skill of the master dyer and designer of this ceremonial wedding blanket center piece. The colors she is able to create are different from any other's in their earthy tone, with the black background covered by natural, old gold, deep red, light teal and grey supplemental weft designs. Its tassels are "flowers" made from silk worm cocoons trimmed to resemble a flower petal and turned inside out for placement with long silk "stamen." The pattern in this piece is predominantly naga (mythical river serpents), ancestor spirits, and flower designs, with siho (mythical elephant-lions) and flowers, birds and water designs on the borders. Note: dimensions do not include tassels. Comes with the photo of the master dyer and designer of this piece.
