Name: Siho and Ancestor Spirit Textile
Huge, crisp, dramatic large shaman cloth or silk ceremonial blanket is covered with siho (mythological elephant lions) with ancestor spirits on their backs, naga (mythological river serpents), and hong birds (mythological bird who's belly is the rainbow). The bright white primary color contrasting with the black ground provides a crisp visual impact to the textile, with other naturally-dyed colors adding complexity to the design. The textile is handwoven from hand-reeled, locally-raised silkworms. The fringe is silkworms cut to resemble flowers. Comes with a photo of the natural dyer modeling her textile.
