Name: Double Peacocks
This is an absolutely stunning textile depicting double peacocks facing each other across a warm burgundy red ground, surrounded by flowers, birds, silkworm moths, and other Laos creatures. Stars are in the border edges of this textile, with rainbow stripes on the outer edges representing the hong bird, a mythological bird who's belly is the rainbow. A one-of-a-kind piece that we have never seen reproduced even remotely in our years of visiting this village. Handwoven from locally raised, hand-reeled silk, and naturally dyed by the master dyer, Souk. Comes with a photo of Souk wearing this textile.
