Name: Coconut Scraper
This Laos folk art creature is an old, hand-carved wooden animal-shaped coconut scraper with a metal serrated "tongue". To be used, the person sits on the back of the animal and scrapes half of a young coconut over the "tongue" to shred the meat, which is then squeezed to make coconut milk for cooking. This animal sits on its hind end, and has a beautiful smooth patina from years of use.
