Name: Brilliant Blue Naga Maze
One of Souksakhone's perpetually stellar designs, the patterns included in this piece are predominantly naga (mythological river serpents). The body is filled with different forms of naga, from diamond to triangle headed, and from pregnant (different colors making up the body), or not (solid color body). There are also stylized tiny ancestor spirits between the naga in little diamonds which represent a lantern to light the way to the ancestor world. The blue is from indigo, with other colors from annatto, kor ben (a huge jungle tree that makes a beautiful gold), warm grey and black from the gold being soaked in the dirt from the burned rice fields for 20 minutes or 3 days, red from lac, and light green from fresh indigo. A picture of the artist modeling her textile is included with purchase.
