Name: Blue and Crimson Shoulder Bag
This is a heavily hand-embroidered cotton bag made by a Red Yao woman. The embroidery threads are silk and cotton in a purply-black, pale blue, royal blue, and deep orange. The pale blue was probably originally white, but the blue handspun, handwoven, indigo dyed back, not being rinsed after dying, generously shared its color with the white threads. This is a sturdy, one-of-a kind bag full of traditional and a woman's careful work.
Size: 12 in. square
