Name: Akha Woman's Basket
This is one of the absolutely stunning baskets woven by the Akha people of NW Laos for the women to carry their sewing and bag-making supplies or for gathering small bits of greens while working in the field. This has a tightly, beautifully woven exterior, reinforced corners, and rim of rattan, and an inside of woven bamboo. This basket has a stunning patina and is accompanied by a photo of the woman who wore it proudly showing it off in her traditional headdress, embroidered overshirt (on top of a green, western-styled T-shirt!), and traditional handspun, indigo dyed, handwoven skirt..
