Name: 4-Part Toque Necklace

Item#: 7272

Chinese letters are embossed into each ring of this 4-toque necklace. I don't have a translation, however. The rings are graduated in size, with definite, but gentle, wear from use, particularly on the bottom ring, where rubbing on the previous owner's clothing created a smooth, shiny surface. The ears of each toque are embossed with the traditional bird head design, clearly marking these as an original set. The strings and red fabric tying the rings together are original to the necklace and the red strings in particular are indicative of having been last worn by a Yao person.

Size: 8 in. x 6.75 in.

Origins: Lao Cai Province, Vietnam
